Information about my trip to the East Timor can be enough for some dissertation writing or essay writing. East Timor – it is a country in Southeast Asia,
occupying the eastern half of the island of Timor, a small exclave (Oecussi-Ambeno) in the western half of the same island, and the small island of Atauro (north) and Jacques (east). Before visit I read History of East Timor and Culture of East Timor which helped me very much. Dili – it is the capital and largest city in East Timor .
It is located on the northern coast of the island of Timor, the most eastern of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Dili - the main port and commercial center of East Timor, its population - about 150 thousand people . I came to the airport which is in Comoro, named after the national hero of East Timor Nicolau Lobato. Many buildings were destroyed in riots in 1999, organized by local militants and Indonesian military. However, in the city, there are numerous houses built in Portuguese era.
Residence of the previous Portuguese governor is now the residence of Prime Minister of the country. Previously, it was also utilized by Indonesian governor and the Transitional Administration of United Nations in the East Timor. I found out that the Catholic Church became the center of resistance to Indonesian occupation. In memory of this there was built the Church of the Immaculate Conception, seats of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dili, the largest cathedral in the South-East Asia.
